Argentina 1935-51 Definitives

Date Usages of the 20c "Large Cow" (20cLC) Value

This stamp is one of the 1935-51 definitives. There are other 20 centavos issues in this series: the 20c small format cattle definitive, and the 20c Guemes definitive. This stamp saw most of its use during World War II. There are three separate pages associated with the 20cLC issues in addition to this one: one dedicated to the issues, and another dedicated to plate varieties and printing shifts between the two plates used. I also show a few specimens on cover, and a detailed study of the postal history of the 20cLC is left for the future. Below are three cancelled specimens of the first 20cLC issued, the 20cLC1E, on watermarked cream paper with the first watermark. The specimens are dated April 25, 1943; March 1945, and April 28, 1951.
Below are two postmarked specimens of the second 20cLC issued, the 20cLCNGR, on unwatermarked gray paper with a grid pattern. The specimens are dated June 7, 1945; and October 11, 1947.
Below are two postmarked specimens of the third 20cLC issued, the 20cLC2, on watermarked bright white paper with the second watermark. The specimens are dated December 1948; and April 18, 1950.
